One night after getting Ethan 5 years old and Evelyn 4 to bed Lindsay sat down and turned on the news. There on the TV was a news spot for her local Habitat… they were building two homes in her county and they were looking for future homeowners for each. She thought about applying; she was apprehensive at first but pushing her forward was the knowledge that her landlord was putting up for sale the house they had rented for the past three years. She wanted a home she could count on; a home that her, Ethan and Evelyn could call their own. She wanted a forever home.
"No one Will ask them to leave this home because this home is their home..."
Lindsay took that leap and went to a Habitat workshop. Now her and her kids are excited for their forever home. They are watching it be built. Making choices to customize the home to what they’ve always wanted. “It has been a great and exciting experience working with habitat” these last few months says Lindsay. What do they want to do when they move? “Unpack!” says Lindsay. Settle in to their new home knowing no one will ask them to leave this home because this home is their home.
